stupid people.

A slightly overdue post dedicated to Elim, which is actually a response to her 'Pet Peeves' post. Just like VH, I hate stupid people (even though I wouldn't exactly consider him intelligent), and my pet peeves are centred around those who are imbued with lower than average intelligence:

Pet Peeve #3: Stupid Waiters

Most people who like to customize their orders will sympathize with me in that the waiter/waitress never seems capable of getting it correct sometimes. There is a diner near my house where I frequently have a problem with my steak arriving oozing with blood, despite re-iterating that I want it well done. Finally, I decided to cut through the problem by ordering the steak VERY WELL DONE and still managed to have it pink and oozing blood.

The top prize, though, was taken by someone who took my order at a Hong Kong cafe (a manager, no less):

'One hot milk tea please.'
'Cold one is it?'

At least he bothered to double-check.

Pet Peeve #2: Stupid Administrators

How vexing is it when you get thrown around by the administration of a large company? The most irritating admin, though, has to be none other than MINDEF. Last November when I deferred my reservist due to exams, I emailed them with my documents, but did not have the exam schedule as it was not out yet, so I added a politely-worded explanation in the email. The next day, I received an sms 'APPLICATION INCOMPLETE', and eventually had to report to camp on the first day of reservist to get the freaking deferment done on the spot.

Thank you you arh.

Pet Peeve #1: Stupid Shop Assistants

If you can't tell me whether the third movement is on the playalong CD that I'm hoping to buy, you shouldn't be working in the shop. If you can't tell me whether the pickups on the electric guitar I'm eyeing are double humbucking, you really shouldn't be working in the shop. If I ask for running shoes and you tell me badminton shoes will serve just as well (they don't by the way), you DEFINITELY shouldn't be working in the shop. I don't care if world champion Lin Dan wears the same model, Lin Dan's running is totally different from my running.

If you get a job in a shop, at least know what you are selling, please.
